Weather New York

See the weather for New York

Like most of the northeastern seaboard of the United States, New York City has a temperate climate with four distinct seasons. Winters in New York are famous for a reason: they are typically very cold and see a lot of snowfall and icy conditions. Summers, meanwhile, can be stiflingly hot in the city, when the entire concrete jungle turns into one big steam bath, which is not helped by excessive amounts of traffic and people. Spring and autumn are definitely the best times of year to visit New York City, when temperatures remain reasonably cool. Spring is an especially lovely time of year in Manhattan, when trees and flowers all seem aglow with new buds and Central Park squeaks with the chirping of baby birds. Autumn, meanwhile, provides a much-needed relief from the height of summer temperatures and offers a good time of year to explore many of the city’s more famous sites at a time when they will be less crowded with tourists.
